Polycarbonate membranes have higher pore density, allow more exchange through the membrane, and have excellent cell adhesion properties, making them ideal for transport studies and other applications where optimal cell growth is required. Polycarbonate membranes are also very suitable for barrier analysis. It has a higher, more sustained, and more stable transepithelial resistance over a longer period of time than other membranes.
